Tundra Running Boards: CrewMax vs Double Cab, 2007-2021 vs 2022 and Up
Toyota Tundra running boards come in two splits: CrewMax or Double Cab, and 2007-2021 or 2022 and up. A part cut for one cab is listed for that cab only. We have no maker sheet for any Tundra part, so this page starts you off and leaves the last check to the listing.

Straight answer
Tundra boards are listed by cab and generation. For a 2007-2021 CrewMax, start with the 6-inch aluminum listing, which spells out four full-size doors. A 2007-2021 Double Cab has its own listing, and a 2022-2026 CrewMax has another. We read no maker sheet for these, so all of it is listing data. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
A running board is a step mounted below a truck's doors that makes it easier to climb in and out. On a Tundra, the first question is your cab, and the name is what trips people up.
CrewMax or Double Cab: which do you have?
Both have four doors, so the door count alone is a poor test. Look at the rear doors.
- ARIES files the Tundra CrewMax under crew cabs and the Tundra Double (2007 to current) under extended cabs. It also says its table is only meant to aid understanding.
- Tyger, in a search excerpt of its Tundra page, warns its CrewMax part is "NOT for Double Cab with 2 full-size front doors & 2 narrower rear doors". We could not open Tyger's page to read it directly.
- Cars.com shows the 2026 SR5 Double Cab as a 4-door with a 6.5-foot bed.
So on a Tundra, Double Cab points to narrower rear doors. That is not true everywhere. ARIES files the Tacoma Double under crew cabs, and the Silverado Double under extended. If you are coming from another truck, reset what the name told you. Extended cab vs crew cab walks through it, and the Tacoma page covers Toyota's smaller truck.

Brand not in title
Aluminum 6" (2007-2021 Tundra CrewMax)
A textured aluminum step that spells out CrewMax and the four full-size doors.
Why here: It is a start, not a pick: the title gives width, material and door count, but we read no maker sheet for it.

Why it makes the list
- Title names material, width and the door count
Watch out for
- No brand in the title
- Listing data only
- No weight rating in the title, so none is printed here
Best for: 2007-2021 CrewMax owners. Not for the Double Cab.
Listing data only: We only have the Amazon listing title for this one, no maker sheet. It is an option, not a recommendation.
This one has no brand in the title, and that is a real weakness. We could not tell you who stands behind it or how it mounts. It gets the slot because its title says the most. If you want a lower step on the same truck, Tyger Trax* carries a part number and calls itself a drop step rail, but we could not read the sheet for it either.

What we cannot tell you
- Whether these need drilling. None of these titles and no sheet we read says. Ask the seller, or read the instructions on the listing, before you plan the job.
- Load ratings. No title here states one, and we do not fill that gap with a dealer figure. Not stated means just that.
- The 2022-up bed options. Toyota's site blocked our reader, so we did not confirm every cab and bed pair. It only matters if the board runs past the cab, which bed and cab fitment explains.
- Why the listings break at 2021. The titles draw that line, and no maker document we read explains it for these parts.

Power and factory options
We have no Amazon power step listing for the Tundra. Westin's Pro-e page does name the Tundra CrewMax for 2007-2021 and 2022-2026 and the Double Cab for 2022-2026, and it states "300 lbs. of weight capacity per side". Other powered options are on power running boards.
Toyota-branded assist steps show up on dealer parts sites in search results, but we could not open the one we tried, so we state no fit for them. On warranty, the FTC said in 2018 that conditioning coverage on specified parts is generally prohibited under the Magnuson-Moss Act, with exceptions. That is general information, not legal advice, so ask your dealer about your own truck.
Bottom line
CrewMax on a 2007-2021 truck: start with the aluminum listing, or the Tyger Trax for a lower step. Double Cab or a 2022-up truck: read the title against your own doors and year, because the choice is thin. For the wider field, see all trucks and best running boards. The rules behind every line above are on how we verify fitment.

Tailgate questions
Will CrewMax running boards fit a Tundra Double Cab?
Not according to the titles we read. Each one names a single cab, and the 6-inch aluminum title adds "4 Full Size Doors" for the CrewMax. A search excerpt of a Tyger page goes further and says its CrewMax part is not for a Double Cab with narrower rear doors. Shop by your cab name.
Do 2007-2021 Tundra running boards fit a 2022 or newer Tundra?
Do not assume it. The titles we read stop at 2021 or start at 2022, so nothing here crosses that line. For a 2022-2026 CrewMax, one listing names that generation and cab. We have no Amazon listing for a 2022-up Double Cab, though Westin's Pro-e table names one.
What are the best running boards for a Toyota Tundra?
We cannot call any Tundra part the best, because we could not read a maker sheet for one and found no independent test. So we name a place to start: the 6-inch aluminum listing on a 2007-2021 CrewMax. It gives width, material and door count in the title, which is more than most of them say.
Are there power running boards for the Toyota Tundra?
Yes. Westin's Pro-e table names the Tundra CrewMax for 2007-2021 and 2022-2026, and the Double Cab for 2022-2026, and Westin states 300 lbs. of weight capacity per side. We have no Amazon power step listing for the Tundra in our data, so check Westin's table for your truck.
Are OEM Toyota Tundra running boards an option?
Toyota dealer parts sites show Toyota-branded assist steps for the Tundra in search results, but toyota.com blocked our reader and we could not open the dealer page we tried. So we state no fit for them. Ask a dealer's parts desk with your VIN, and compare what it quotes with the listing.
