Chevy Colorado Running Boards: 2015-2026 Crew and Extended Cab, and Rock Sliders for the ZR2
Almost every Colorado listing we read is for the Crew Cab, and each one covers 2015 to 2026 or 2027 as one block. So a 2016, 2018, 2025 or 2026 truck shops the same list, and the cab does the sorting. For a crew cab, start with the Tyger Rider. The titles do not name the ZR2 or Trail Boss, so those owners have more reading to do.

Straight answer
For a Colorado Crew Cab, our pick is the 3.5-inch Tyger Rider TG-SS2C35168: 6 brackets and no drilling step in the sheet. Extended Cab owners have one no-brand listing in our data. No title we read names the ZR2 or Trail Boss. CBI sells ZR2 sliders on its own site. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
A running board is a step mounted below a truck's doors that makes it easier to climb in and out. On a Colorado, you sort by cab first, then read the year range for what it does not say.
What the titles state
Read November 2, 2026. This is listing wording. We add nothing to it, and how we verify fitment explains why.

Crew Cab: start with the Tyger Rider
Tyger Auto
Tyger Rider 3.5" (Colorado and Canyon)
A 3.5-inch rail for the mid-size GM crew cab, with a maker sheet.
Why here: It is the Colorado part with a maker sheet we could read, and its title states the cab and the part number.

Why it makes the list
- Part number (TG-SS2C35168) ties it to Tyger's instruction sheet
- Sheet uses 6 brackets and has no drilling step
Watch out for
- The title spans 2015-2027 in one range, so confirm your year on the listing
- No weight rating in the title, so none is printed here
Best for: Colorado or Canyon crew cab owners who want a rail and a readable install.
Tyger's sheet for TG-SS2C35168 is short. You pull rubber plugs from the mounting locations along the bottom and inner side of the body, slide in 8mm clip nuts, and hang 6 brackets, 3 per side, at the 1st, 2nd and 4th locations. There is no drilling step, assistance is recommended, and it asks for periodic checks that the hardware stays tight. It states no weight rating, so we print none.
Want more under your boot? The 6-inch COMNOVA* is wider, with listing data only (more on COMNOVA). If the first step is the problem, the LanderX* and Access* are titled as drop steps. We could not read sheets for those. See drop steps for what you trade.

The year range and the 2023 change
Wikipedia dates the current Colorado from model year 2023 and the one before it from 2015 to 2022. Every title here runs straight across that line. We report that and do not explain it, because nothing we read does. The Tyger sheet's text names no model years, and Tyger's own site refused to open for us. So a 2023-up owner should get a yes from the seller, by year, before ordering.
The last year differs too. Tyger titles say 2027. COMNOVA and the Extended Cab title say 2026, and so does Westin's Pro-e table. On a 2027 truck, ask.
Extended Cab
The no-brand Extended Cab listing* is the only one we have for this cab, and it says little beyond the truck and cab. Here is the catch. Its title runs to 2026, while Wikipedia says the 2023-up model comes only as a Crew Cab. If Wikipedia is right, the end of that range runs past the cabs that were sold, so do not read much into it. On any year, get a yes from the seller. Extended cab running boards covers the wider picture. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
ZR2, Trail Boss and rock sliders
No Amazon title here names a trim, and that silence does not mean a part fits. Chevrolet's accessory pages refused to open for us, so we state nothing about factory steps. Your dealer can answer for those.
For ZR2 protection, we could read one maker's pages, and its parts are not in our Amazon data:
- CBI Offroad Fab, 2015-2022 sliders. Compatible with Z71 and ZR2 crew cab short-bed trucks only, and it says they do not work with a crew cab long bed. Frame-mounted and bolt-on. Wikipedia says the ZR2 of those years also came as an extended cab, and CBI's wording leaves that truck out.
- CBI, 2023-up sliders. Frame-mounted, for the Colorado and Canyon. The page title says 2023-2026, its year field says 2023-2025, and it names no trim, cab or bed. Ask before ordering.
- CBI, ZR2 and Z71 side steps, 2015-2022. These use factory mounting holes with no drilling, and the page warns they are not rock sliders.
CBI says its sliders can lift the truck with a jack, and it prints no load figure. We found no published rating behind that kind of claim, so we repeat no number. Rock sliders vs running boards sorts out which job you are buying for.
Power steps
No Amazon power step for the Colorado is in our data. Westin's table names the Pro-e, part 29-24015, for the 2015-2026 Colorado Crew Cab and states "300 lbs. of weight capacity per side". The wider field is on power running boards.

Tailgate questions
Are running boards for a 2016 or 2018 Colorado different from a 2025 or 2026?
Not in the titles we read. Each states one range across all of those years, so none treats a 2016 and a 2026 separately. Wikipedia dates a new generation from 2023, and we could not find a maker document that explains how one part spans both. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
Do Colorado running boards fit a GMC Canyon?
Many listings name both trucks in one title, and Westin's Pro-e table uses one part number, 29-24015, for the Colorado and the Canyon Crew Cab. That covers those parts only, so read the title on the one you are buying. See our Canyon page for the GMC side.
Will crew cab boards fit a Colorado Extended Cab?
Do not plan on it. The titles we read name one cab each, and none crosses over. In the ARIES guide, an extended cab has smaller rear doors or reaches the back seat by moving the front seats forward. Buy a listing that names your cab, and ask the seller if it does not.
Do Colorado running boards need drilling?
The Tyger Rider sheet has no drilling step. It uses clip nuts behind rubber plugs at existing mounting locations. We could not read a sheet for the other listings on this page, so we cannot say for those. Ask the seller before you plan the job.
Are there rock sliders for a Colorado ZR2?
Yes, on maker sites. CBI Offroad Fab lists 2015-2022 sliders for Z71 and ZR2 crew cab short-bed trucks only, and a 2023-up slider that names no trim. Neither is in our Amazon data. CBI also sells ZR2 side steps and warns they are not rock sliders, so read which one you are ordering.
