Mopar and OEM Ram Running Boards vs Aftermarket: What Is Listed for Your Year and Cab

Factory Mopar side steps and running boards exist by cab: Regular, Quad and Crew. Mopar's own store refused our reader, so we only have part names and model lists from one parts retailer, and that page shows no years. Get factory fit from a Ram dealer with your VIN. If you want paperwork in hand first on a new-body crew cab, start with the Tyger Rider.

Straight answer

Mopar sells Ram 1500 steps by cab, but the catalog page we could read shows no years, so confirm factory fit with a Ram dealer and your VIN. Ram's 2024 booklet says aftermarket steps do not by themselves void its warranties. For a new-body crew cab, the aftermarket start is the Tyger Rider TG-SS2D35098. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.

What's on this page

Here is the straight version of what we could and could not read. store.mopar.com and ramtrucks.com both refused our reader on November 2, 2026, so nothing on this page comes from them. We print no factory year ranges, because we did not see any we could confirm. What we do have is one parts retailer's catalog, Ram's 2024 warranty booklet and the aftermarket titles. For the wider picture on this truck, go back to Ram 1500 running boards.

Factory parts as one retailer lists them

This comes from MoparPartsGiant, which credits Original Parts Now, Inc. It is a retailer page and not Mopar's own. Some model lists there are cut short behind a "View More" link, and the page says selecting your vehicle by VIN gives the most accurate results.

82211698AEBlack aluminum running boards, regular cabDodge Ram 1500-3500, Ram 1500, Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 2500-5500

Read that last column with care. A list with Ram 1500 and Ram 1500 Classic on it does not say that one part goes on every year of both. Aftermarket titles treat those two as separate trucks, as Ram 1500 shows. So take the part number to a Ram parts counter with your VIN. That table is a starting point for the conversation, and it does not state fit for your truck.

The same page lists Mega Cab parts under the Ram 2500 and 3500. Those trucks have their own page.

What Ram's warranty booklet says

This is the one firm difference we could source. It comes from Ram's 2024 booklet for light duty gas and diesel trucks, section 3.1.

  • Adding "aftermarket side steps or running boards" is on the list of changes that do not, by themselves, void the warranties.
  • Those warranties do not cover repairs "caused or needed because of the installation or use" of non-factory parts.
  • The examples of alterations not covered include installing accessories, "except for genuine FCA US LLC/Mopar accessories installed by an authorized Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or Ram dealer".
  • The booklet also names an FCA US LLC/Mopar Part Limited Warranty. We did not read its terms, so we print none.

So a dealer-installed Mopar step sits in a different spot on that list from a board you bolt on in the driveway. Newer booklets may word this differently, and your own booklet controls. Do running boards void your warranty goes through the FTC side. None of this is legal advice.

The aftermarket listings to compare

Read November 2, 2026, from titles. All of these are titled for the new body and the crew cab, and none of them names a Quad Cab or Regular Cab. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.

Tyger Auto

Tyger Rider 3.5" (2019+ Ram 1500)

A 3.5-inch rail whose title draws the Classic line in plain words.

Why here: If you go aftermarket, this is the listing with the most to check: the title rules out the Classic by name, and we could read the maker sheet.

Why it makes the list

  • Title excludes the 2019-2024 Classic
  • Part number (TG-SS2D35098) ties it to Tyger's sheet: 6 brackets on factory studs, no drilling step

Watch out for

  • The title runs to model year 2027; we could not read Tyger's own page to confirm that year
  • No weight rating in the title, so none is printed here
  • The sheet says to wire-brush paint off the studs first

Best for: New-body Ram 1500 crew cab owners. Not for the Classic.

Tyger's sheet for TG-SS2D35098 calls for 6 brackets on 3 factory studs each, has no drilling step and recommends assistance. It states no weight rating, so we print none. The titles reach model year 2027 on the Tyger parts and stop at 2026 on the other two, so a 2027 truck needs a question to the seller.

Which way to go

Cab first. ARIES files the Ram 1500 Quad under extended cabs and the Crew under crew cabs, and says its table is only an aid to understanding. The factory list above has parts for all three cabs. The aftermarket listings above are crew only.

Own a Classic or an older truck? None of the listings above state your truck, so go to 2009-2018 and Classic. The new body has its own detail on 2019-2026 Ram 1500, and powered parts are on Ram 1500 power running boards. Our rule for all of this is on how we verify fitment. No one here has installed these, and we found no independent durability test of factory or aftermarket boards.

Tailgate questions

Are Mopar running boards better than aftermarket?

We found no independent test that settles it, so we compare paperwork. Mopar parts carry a factory name and a dealer can look them up by VIN. Aftermarket fit comes from a seller's title, sometimes backed by a maker sheet. Ram's 2024 booklet also treats genuine Mopar accessories installed by a Ram dealer differently from other accessories.

Do Mopar side steps fit a Ram 1500 Classic?

Do not assume so from the retailer page we read. It lists Ram 1500 Classic next to Ram 1500 on several parts and gives no years, so it does not tell you which part goes on which truck. Aftermarket titles keep the Classic and the new body apart. Ask a Ram dealer with your VIN.

Does putting non-Mopar running boards on a Ram void the warranty?

Not by itself, according to Ram's 2024 light duty booklet, which lists adding aftermarket side steps or running boards among changes that do not, by themselves, void its warranties. It also says repairs caused by installing non-factory parts are not covered. Your own booklet controls, and this is not legal advice.

Does Mopar make power running boards for the Ram 1500?

We cannot confirm the details. Mopar's store refused our reader, and the retailer page we could read does not mention power running boards. Ask a Ram dealer. For the listings we could read, our Ram 1500 power running boards page sorts them by year, because aftermarket titles split at 2025.
