Question & answer
Will Ram 1500 Classic Running Boards Fit a New Body Ram 1500?
No, not according to any source we read. Listing titles for Classic boards say the new body does not fit, and new-body titles say the 2019-2024 Classic does not fit. Westin gives the two trucks different part numbers too. A 2019-2024 Ram 1500 can be either truck, so settle which one you own before you read a single year range.

The straight answer
No. Treat them as two trucks. One aluminum title for the older body and Classic reads "New Body Style Not Fit", and Tyger's new-body title reads "Not fit 19-24 Classic". Westin lists different Pro-e part numbers for each. If your 2019-2024 truck's paperwork says Classic, shop with the 2009-2018 trucks. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
This trap exists because of a naming decision, not because anybody misread a catalog. Wikipedia says the fourth-generation 1500 stayed in production alongside the new fifth-generation truck from 2019, was renamed the Ram 1500 Classic, and lasted through the 2024 model year. So for six model years, two different trucks wore the same badge.
What each source says
Read November 2, 2026. This is the source's wording. We add nothing to it.
| Source | Part | Stated for | Ruled out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tyger title | TG-SS2D35098 | 2019-2027 Ram 1500, Crew Cab | "Not fit 19-24 Classic" |
| Aluminum crew title | No part number | 2009-2018 Dodge Ram 1500, 2019-2024 1500 Classic, 2010-2026 2500 3500, Crew Cab | "New Body Style Not Fit" |
| Westin Pro-e table | 29-24085 | 2019-2027 1500 Crew Cab | Not listed for the Classic |
| Westin Pro-e table | 29-23565 | 2011-2018 1500 Crew Cab, 2019-2024 1500 Classic Crew Cab, and others | Not listed for the 2019-up new body |
Westin is the useful one. It groups the Classic with the 2011-2018 truck under one number and gives the new-body truck another. That is a maker saying the same thing the listing titles say. The older part's table lines also carry a footnote excluding vehicles with air suspension, so read your row.
The mounting hints at why. Tyger's new-body sheet uses 6 brackets on factory studs and has no drilling step. Its sheet for the older body and Classic, TG-SS2D35318, is a different kit and prints "DRILLING MAY BE REQUIRED". We read no Ram document on the body differences, so we stop there and do not guess at the rest.
How to tell which one you have
- Model year 2018 or older: the titles group you with the older trucks.
- Model year 2019-2024: either one. Look for the word Classic in your paperwork.
- Model year 2025 or newer: Wikipedia says the Classic ended with 2024, so that row does not apply. Still match the title to your year.
- Regular Cab, 2019-2024: Wikipedia lists a Regular Cab for the Classic and only Quad and Crew for the fifth generation. Take that as a clue, not as proof.
Not sure? Give a Ram dealer your VIN. It costs you one phone call, which beats a return.
Which listings to read
Tyger Auto
Tyger Rider 3.5" (2019+ Ram 1500)
A 3.5-inch rail whose title draws the Classic line in plain words.
Why here: If your truck is the new body, this title rules out the Classic by name, and we could read the maker sheet behind its part number.
- Fits, according to the listing
- 2019-2027 Ram 1500 (Not fit 19-24 Classic) | Crew Cab (as of November 2, 2026)
- Style
- Rail / nerf bar (as titled)
- Material
- Not stated in the title
- Weight rating
- Not stated in the title
- Install
- Bolt-on with 6 brackets to factory studs; no drilling step in the sheet; assistance recommended
- Price class
- Mid-range
Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
Why it makes the list
- Title excludes the 2019-2024 Classic
- Part number (TG-SS2D35098) ties it to Tyger's sheet: 6 brackets on factory studs, no drilling step
Watch out for
- The title runs to model year 2027; we could not read Tyger's own page to confirm that year
- No weight rating in the title, so none is printed here
- The sheet says to wire-brush paint off the studs first
Best for: New-body Ram 1500 crew cab owners. Not for the Classic.
If your truck is the Classic, go the other way. The aluminum crew cab step* states the Classic years and rules out the new body, with listing data only. Ram 1500 2009-2018 and Classic has the rest of that group, and Ram 1500 2019-2026 has the new-body group. The main Ram 1500 page covers cabs as well. Check your exact year and cab on the listing before you buy.
The second split nobody mentions
Power steps divide the new body again. The RealTruck PowerStep* title reads "2025-2027 RAM 1500 Gas Only", and one WOLFBOX title reads "2019-2024" and "Not for 2025-2026 & 1500 Classic". Both are listing wording. Why it splits, and what that means for other drivetrains, we did not establish. Ram 1500 power running boards sorts them.
If a title leaves out the word Classic altogether, it has not cleared your truck. It has just not addressed it. How to check a listing fits walks through that, and how we verify fitment explains why we never fill the gap for you.
Tailgate questions
How do I know if my Ram 1500 is a Classic or the new body?
Start with your paperwork, because the model year alone will not tell you. Wikipedia says the fourth-generation truck stayed in production alongside the new one from 2019 and was renamed the Ram 1500 Classic through the 2024 model year. If the paperwork does not settle it, give a Ram dealer your VIN and ask.
Do boards for a Ram 2500 fit a new body Ram 1500?
Do not assume so. Several titles group the 2500 and 3500 with the older 1500 and the Classic, and they rule out the new body by name. One such aluminum title covers the 2009-2018 Ram 1500, the 2019-2024 Classic and the 2010-2026 2500 and 3500, and says new body style not fit.
Do 2025 Ram 1500 power steps fit a 2019-2024 truck?
Do not plan on it. Power steps split again inside the new body. The RealTruck PowerStep title reads 2025-2027 RAM 1500 Gas Only, and one WOLFBOX title reads 2019-2024 and says not for 2025-2026 and 1500 Classic. We do not know why the line falls there, and these are listing statements only.
